Outbreak!

Mom finally changed our hammock last weekend, so we started using it again. The hammock that used to be in here was all marked-on by the boys... Ughh. Mom noticed that we weren't using it anymore, so she gave us a new one... now we can all three be found in here almost constantly. Being that this is a shirt, there are two layers to it. This morning, Mom giggled when she saw that ash was between the shirt layers, and I was on top. Ember came to see what Mom was giggling about. She had been sleeping alone in the box below. So Mom put her up here with me, and we've pretty much just lazed about in our hammock for most of the day.

...snug as two bugs in a rug...

Terrible news. It's why I didn't write yesterday, Mom was using her computer to research information about Rattie illnesses. Houdini had a partly closed eye on Monday, and Mom thought one of the boys got too rough with him while they were scrapping. So she didn't think too much of it. But on Tuesday, three of the boys had a partly-closed eye, but they still acted just fine. There was an incident with their water bottle leaking and they had wet bedding one night last weekend, so Mom thought they'd pull out of it. But by Wednesday, four of the boys had partly-closed eyes, and they were sneezing. Other than that, they were fine - eating, playing, and enjoying being Ratties just like normal. The sneezing, however, worried Mom.

..what Mom?! I feel fine!...

Mom took a picture of Houdini and wrote to the ratlist, hoping to get some help. Of course they helped, they're wonderful humans who love Ratties too. Most of the people there were thinking the boys' condition was SDA, and after Mom read about it, she agrees. She has some medicine in the boys' water now, and us girls are restricted to the back of the house, away from the boys, until this clears up. Mom said we can have Out-Time on her bed - but as for the boys, they are supposed to stay in their cage and drink their medicine.

All the ratlist people asked Mom if us Ratties or she herself had been around any other rats within an hour of being with the boys. Mom said no... but when she got to thinking about it, she remembers that we had little wild-mouse visitors last weekend. Daddy shooed them out of the house and then boarded up where the fellas came in at, but just the same, Mom's human son saw two of them crawling on his chair. The same chair where he sits with Houdini. He even has little bowls of food and water there for Houdini, so no wonder Houdini got it first. Drats.
