Thieves crept into the library and set
fire to the western wing of the DSL Chronicles. The damage was extensive, and the
entire contents of the Chronicler's notebook were destroyed in the attack. After
some digging, I found some usenet discussion groups that are solely devoted to trashing
Ikonboard software. From what I can piece together, it looks like someone took
advantage of certain weaknesses in the software and deleted everything they could.
Like any good Chronicler, I kept backups in case of Cataclysm. However,
I am reluctant to rebuild a second notebook knowing the flaws with the software still
remain. If anyone has any suggestions on good, free and secure bulletin board
software, feel free to contact me at DslChronicler@hotmail.com.
I'm certain those of you who are longtime members of the notebook community are
just as frustrated as I am, but this is a good lesson worth remembering: When
designing a system, assume someone someday will try to ruin it and take the appropriate
precautions. I would ask that Astinus and Herodotus contact me at their convenience
for some unfinished business.
Meantime, just as one chapter ends, another begins. I understand a new
forum has opened (coincidentally) today. I encourage those in the notebook community
to visit there at http://dsl-underground.com.

A new subspecies of goblin has emerged from the
primordial slime of Do'lundir: HobGoblins and BugBears. The addition of
Bugbears in particular bumped Yinn off of the Top 5 lists in the areas of brute force:
Warriors, Barbarians, and Battleragers. They appear to be the third-best in this
sort of profession. Time will tell what role these two new subraces will play in the
realms. |

A few changes today. First, Shalonesti elf
strength increased 5 points. All dwarven dexterity increased by 5 points. All stat
lists in the site have been modified accordingly. None of the top five lists shifted
as a result, but the shift we did see was dark dwarves getting better at dex-classes than
humans, and Shalonesti elves no longer are dead last in strength-related categories.
Second, the warstorian Terrance Harpman finally posted his chronicles of the
Purist War-- the war that led to the formation of the Shadow clan two and a half years
ago. You can find it in the Chronicler's Notebook!
Lastly, the message forum on the Netfirms account should be much stabler now,
and hard drive space has been increased. The next update should transfer some of the
great content you folks have added to the Notebook into the Chronicles proper. |

The folks at Netfirms.com say they're having technical
difficulties. The Chronicler's
Notebook should be back up and running once they get it sorted out.
Meanwhile, I'm looking for a more stable cgi platform for it. I'm really enjoying
the development of that forum. Keep checking back to see when it goes up. |

Completely redid "The Chronicler's Notebook".
It is now a fully functional message forum. The Class Tactics
Database has been added to the Notebook (thanks to Dave for the suggestion).
You can add your own polls, upload files and logs, register, access a private
messenger, keep track of new posts since you last logged in, and other useful features.
Just click on Chronicler's
Notebook to access. |

Many of you will remember Ceberon's classic website,
War -- The Art of Pkilling. It opened in 1998 and was required reading for
anyone wanting to clan. A few months ago, 'The Art of War' was shut down,
seemingly forever... Until now! Much thanks to Dave, who passed most of the content
of this excellent site into the libraries of the DSL Chronicles. With this latest
contribution, the Chronicles now offers solid pk assistance. |

Shows what is the best equipment for certain level brackets with a breakdown
of all the potential advantages and disadvantages. I think you'll find it extremely
useful! |

Fixed the 'Chase an enemy' clanner trigger under Zmud
tips. It now works perfectly! Added a detailed list of classes by race
from best to worst. Click on Best Classes, then Classes for more information. |

The DSL Chronicles has moved libraries! I
attempted to update the geocities website and learned I had run out of space! Much
thanks to Xeryus of www.BackBlast.com
for offering to host the Chronicles. Stay tuned, for in the coming weeks, I will be
adding Zmud script files, logs of major AGL events, and finally the Chronicles section
will begin to fill. |

Today marks a little more than a year since the DSL
Chronicles opened. In the past year, there have been 15,000 visits. In order
to make sure you keep coming back the stats section has had a massive update.
Goblins are smarter than anyone thought! Their Intelligence increased from 43 to 50.
New details were added for all races and classes! No longer do you have to settle
with a top five list. Now you can see the entire detail from best to worst.
Lots of new pages added here. The math on some calculations was off. The top five
lists have been changed. Balberith contributed a handy zmud trigger for clanners!
The Book of Learning has been updated somewhat. |

Shaman stats adjusted. Their primary and
secondary attributes were switched. The Zmud Tips section just got a big boost, with
quite a few new and interesting additions for both clanners and nonclanners. Thanks
to those who sent me storynotes from the past. I'm still looking for storynotes from
notable people in DSL History. Feel free to email me any logs or notes you think might be
appropriate in the Chronicles section. Soon that will be updated, as well. |

Due to popular demand, I've designed a new and improved
stat-roller and added it to the Zmud Tips section. It does some cool things, I
think. |

Massive update made to the lists. Just
about everything's changed. Kender base Consitutition changed from 30 to 28. Yinn
base Constitution increased from 63 to 65. Hill Dwarf Dex increased to 45. Mountain
Dwarf Dex increased to 40. Goblin strength reduced from 45 to 43. Wemic and Felar stats
corrected. Priests, Swashbucklers, and Necromancers added. Goblin racial bonus
reduced to +8/+4, like everyone else. Basically, I had to redo every list from
scratch.
End results: Felar now make the best rangers and assassins. Within the
next month or so keep an eye here for more top lists, and a big expansion to the Zmud
section.
Lastly, I am actively searching for submissions for
the Chronicles Page. Please read my post on the message board in
the Chronicler's Notebook for more information. Keep on
playing in the mud. |

Updated 'Autoalerting clan'. It would only shout once
and never again. Now the toggle is set back when you go to sleep. Added a new
Zmud function which allows you to speak in your own languages that you create.
Enjoy! Chronicler's Note: If you're currently using the
'Autoalerting clan' routine, you should check out clanner commands and update yours
appropriately. I'm excited about the language code. Perhaps we'll start seeing
the rise of secret societies, subraces and ethnicities. |

Crusader primary and secondary stats were totally off,
but have now been corrected. As a result, most of the lists have changed. Deep
Gnomes crusaders catapaulted to the top of the list, as did dwarves and wild elves. |

havoc with a lot of the lists, demoting Yinn and Half-Ogres in particular, though
Kender assasins (were they to exist) would now be the best in the realm! |
