Run for your life. That's about it. Once the person dies, even if they didn't have time to call for help before, now Everyone knows that he died. Even people in other clans can quite often guess where you could be, and other people will know that you have just finished combat, and are most likely hurt (and possibly spelled down/dispelled, etc).

Once that person dies, there is a good chance they'll quickly tell someone to kill you. So if you want to take money or a weapon, take it quickly, then get away from the corpse. Sometimes if I'm in a public place, I like to stick around to make sure no other clanners strip the corpses, but that is a dangerous job since no one seems to respect a corpse-guarder these days.
